In import and export trade, customs clearance is a traditional function of freight forwarders. In the dual relationship between freight forwarders and customs authorities and their customers, the legal status of freight forwarders varies from country to country, but customs agents are usually authorized by the government. /p>

A better freight forwarder should understand customs procedures and port operations

After the goods are shipped, the carrier is responsible for the goods described on the bill of lading and assumes responsibility for the loss and damage of the goods during transportation, thus reducing the risk of receiving the goods for the buyer. Therefore, both parties are willing to stipulate in the letter of credit that the bill of lading has the word "shipped" on it. Since letters of credit generally require a shipped bill of lading, banks will only accept bills of lading that indicate that the goods have been shipped or loaded on a named vessel.

There are two ways to indicate that the goods have been loaded on board or loaded on a named vessel. One is represented by the words "goods have been loaded on board" or "goods have been loaded on named vessel" printed on the bill of lading. The other is to add a word of approval on the bill of lading to prove that the goods have been loaded on the named ship. The notation must indicate the date the goods were shipped, which is the date of shipment. If the bill of lading indicates the "expected vessel", that is, the goods are likely to be loaded on this ship, the shipped notation on the bill of lading should not only indicate that the goods have been loaded on the ship, but also indicate the name of the ship on which the goods are actually loaded.
